NYS were asked if they wanted to pass an amendment to the NYS constitution,
to change VII.7 - to allow for exceptions to the prohibition of sale, lease, and other uses of forest preserves, which are to be kept forever wild
as proposed by the NYS Legislature
And the voters said: No!

Article VII: State Finance; Forest Preserve; Canals • Section 7: Forest preserve.
The lands of the state, now owned or hereafter acquired, constituting the forest preserve as now fixed by law, shall be forever kept as wild forest lands. Except as authorized by this section, they shall not be leased, sold or exchanged, to be taken by any corporation, public or private, nor shall the timber thereon be sold, removed or destroyed.…
