The Text
The cases in which any office shall be deemed vacant shall be defined by general laws, when no provision is made for that purpose in this constitution ; and the Legislature shall provide for filling vacancies in office. In case of elective offices, any person appointed to fill a vacancy, shall hold the office until a successor shall be elected and duly qualified according to law.
