NYS were asked if they wanted to pass an amendment to the NYS constitution,
to change IV.1, IV.2, IV.4, IV.8, IV.9 - to refine the roles of governor and lieutenant governor, and clarify the governor's role in the lawmaking process
as proposed by the NYS Legislature, based on a state commission's recommendation
And the voters said: Yes!

IV.1 proposed for 1875
• Section 1: Governor and lieutenant governor; term of office.
The executive power shall be vested in a Governor, who shall hold his oflice for three years ; a Lieutenant-Governor shall be chosen at the same time, and for the same term. The Governor and Lieutenant-Governor elected next preceding the time when this section shall take effect shall hold oflice during the term for which they were elected.

No person shall be eligible to the oflice of Governor or Lieutenant-Governor, except a citizen of the United States, of the age of not less than thirty years, and who shall have been five years, next preceding his election, a resident of this State.

The Lieutenant-Governor shall receive for his services an annual salary of five thousand dollars, and shall not receive or be entitled to any other compensation, fee or perquisite for any duty or service he may be required to perform by the Constitution or by law.
