The Text

The members of the assembly shall be chosen by single districts, each of which shall choose one member. Until changed by a reapportionment, as in this article provided, the number of members of assembly to be chosen in the several counties shall be as follows:
To the county of Albany, three.

To the county of Broome, two.

Each county of the state having but one member of assembly, according to the above apportionment or any reapportionment under this article, shall comprise an assembly district. Each county so having more than one member of assembly shall be divided into as many assembly districts as it has members of assembly.
In any county having a board of supervisors to which is apportioned more than one member of assembly, such board
shall, on or before the second Tuesday in June, nineteen hundred thirty-nine, meet and establish assembly districts equal in number to the number of members of assembly to which such county is entitled under this section, and shall thereupon prepare and certify a description of each such district, with the number assigned to it, and a statement of the number of persons who voted therein for governor at the election held in November, nineteen hundred thirty-six, and cause the same to be filed in the office of the department of state and of the clerk of the county within thirty days after such districts are established.
In the counties having no board of supervisors, the legislature, by law, shall establish the assembly districts therein at its regular session held in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-nine and prior to the second Tuesday in June of that year, and if the legislature fails so to do, the assembly districts in such counties shall be as follows.
In the county of Bronx:
District number one (1) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-third senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the East river and East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street, and running thence along East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street to Cypress avenue, to East One Hundred and Thirty-eighth street, to St. Ann’s avenue, to East One Hundred and Forty-ninth street, to Melrose avenue, to East One Hundred and Fiftieth street, to Park avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-third street, to Sherman avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, to Walton avenue, to McClellan street, to Cromwell avenue, to Jerome avenue, to West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river, Bronx Kills and East river to East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.
District number two (2) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-third senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Harlem river and West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, and running thence along West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street to Jerome avenue, to Cromwell avenue, to McClellan street, to Walton avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixtyseventh street, to Grand Concourse, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fourth street, to Eastburn avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Anthony avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-sixth street, to East Tremont avenue, to and along West Tremont avenue, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river to East One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.

District number five (5) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fourth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of East One Hundred and Forty-ninth street and St. Ann’s avenue, and running thence along East One Hundred and Forty-ninth street to Wales avenue, to East One Hundred and Fifty-second street, to Prospect avenue, to Crotona Park South, to Crotona avenue, to Crotona Park North, to Arthur avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Webster avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-first street, to Park avenue, to St. Paul’s place, to Washington avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-sixth street, to Third avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-fourth street, to Cauldwell avenue, to East One Hundred and Fifty-sixth street, to St. Ann’s avenue, to East One Hundred and Forty-ninth street, the point or place of beginning.
District number six (6) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fourth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and Bronx Park South, and running thence along Bronx Park South to Daly avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-sixth street, to Crotona parkway, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Crotona Park North, thence Southerly and westerly along Crotona Park North to Crotona avenue, to Crotona Park South, to Prospect avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, to and along Westchester avenue, to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to Bronx Park South, the point or place of beginning.
District number seven (7) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-sixth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Harlem river and West One Hundred and Ninety-second street, and running thence along West One Hundred and Ninety-second street to Bailey avenue, to West One Hundred and Ninety-third street, to Heath avenue, to Kingsbridge terrace, to West Kingsbridge road, to and along East Kingsbridge road, to and along East One Hundred and Ninety-fourth street, to Briggs avenue, to and along East Kingsbridge road, to East Fordham road, to Tiebout avenue, to East One Hundred and Eighty-seventh street, to Park avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Webster avenue, to East Tremont avenue, to and along West Tremont avenue, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river to West One Hundred and Ninety-second street, the point or place of beginning.
District number eight (8) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-sixth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of East One Hundred and Ninety-fourth street and East Kingsbridge road, and running thence along East Kingsbridge road to and along West Kingsbridge road, to Kingsbridge terrace, to Heath avenue, to West One Hundred and Ninety-third street, to Bailey avenue, to West One Hundred and Ninety-second street, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and New York, thence northerly and westerly along said boundary line to the Hudson river, thence through the waters of the Hudson river to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Westchester, whence along said boundary line to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to East Two Hundred and Fifth street, to Webster avenue, to East Two Hundred and Seventh street, to Bainbridge avenue, to Van Cortlandt Avenue East, to East Mosholu Parkway South, to Briggs avenue, to East One Hundred and Ninety-fourth street to East Kingsbridge road, the point or place of beginning.
District number nine (9) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-sixth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and East Two Hundred and Fifth street, and running thence along East Two Hundred and Fifth street to Webster avenue, to East Two Hundred and Seventh street, to Bainbridge avenue, to Van Cortlandt Avenue East, to East Mosholu Parkway South, to Briggs avenue, to and along East Kingsbridge road, to East Fordham road, to Tiebout avenue, to East One Hundred and Eighty-seventh street, to Park avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Arthur avenue, to Crotona Park North, thence easterly and northerly along Crotona Park North to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Crotona parkway, to East One Hundred and Seventy-sixth street, to Daly avenue, to Bronx Park South, to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to East Two Hundred and Fifth street, the point or place of beginning.
District number ten (10) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and Bronx and Pelham parkway, and running thence along Bronx and Pelham parkway, to and along Fordham road, to Eastern boulevard and through Pelham Bay park, to Eastchester bay, thence southeasterly through the waters of Eastchester bay and Long Island Sound to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Queens, thence through the waters of Long Island Sound along the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Queens to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Westchester, thence along said boundary line to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to Bronx and Pelham parkway, the point or place of beginning.
District number eleven (11) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth senate district within and bounded by f line beginning at the Bronx river and Bronx and Pelham parkway, and running thence along Bronx and Pelham parkway, to and along Fordham road, to Eastern boulevard and through Pelham Bay park to Eastchester bay, thence through the waters of Eastchester bay to Randall avenue, to East Tremont avenue, to Waterbury avenue, to Westchester creek, thence through the waters of Westchester creek to Waterbury avenue, to and along Westchester avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to Bronx and Pelham parkway, the point or place of beginning.
District number twelve (12) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth seriate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, and running thence along East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street to Westchester avenue to and along Waterbury avenue to Westchester creek, thence through the waters of Westchester creek to Waterbury avenue, to East Tremont avenue, to Randall avenue, to Eastchester bay, thence through the waters of Eastchester bay. Long Island Sound, East river and Bronx river, to East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.
In the county of Kings:

District number two (2) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Tenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Atlantic ocean and Coney Island avenue, and running thence along Coney Island avenue to Avenue U, to East Thirteenth street, to Kings highway, to East Twenty-second street, to Avenue O, to Bedford avenue, to Avenue D, to East Twenty-fifth street, to Cortelyou road, to Lott street, to Tilden avenue, to Canarsie avenue, to Beverley road, to Brooklyn avenue, to Cortelyou road, to East Thirty-seventh street, to Avenue H, to Brooklyn avenue, to Avenue J, to Schenectady avenue, to Avenue R, to Haring street, to Avenue R, to Bedford avenue, to Sheepshead bay, thence through the waters of Sheepshead bay, Rockaway inlet and Atlantic ocean to Coney Island avenue, the point or place of beginning.

District number four (4) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Thirteenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the East river and Broadway, and running thence along Broadway to Berry street, to South Sixth street, to Broadway, to Flushing avenue, to Skillman street, to Park avenue, to Franklin avenue, to Myrtle avenue, to Spencer street, to Willoughby avenue, to Kent avenue, to DeKalb avenue, to South Portland avenue, to Lafayette avenue, to St. Felix street, to DeKalb avenue, to Navy street, to Lafayette street, to Ashland place, to Willoughby street, to St. Edwards street, to Bolivar street, to Ashland place, to Myrtle avenue, to Fleet place, to Willoughby street, to Gold street (Albee square), to Fulton street, to James street, to Henry street, to Poplar street, to the East river, thence through the waters of the East river to Broadway, the point or place of beginning.

District number eight (8) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Eleventh senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at Gravesend bay and Fort Hamilton parkway, and running thence along Fort Hamilton parkway to Fifty-seventh street, to Thirteenth avenue, to Sixty-second street, to Fourteenth avenue, to Bay Ridge avenue, to Seventeenth avenue, to Sixty-seventh street, to Nineteenth avenue, to Eighty-third street, to Eighteenth avenue, to Bath avenue, to Nineteenth avenue, to Gravesend bay, thence through the waters of Gravesend bay to Fort Hamilton parkway, the point or place of beginning.
District number nine (9) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Eleventh senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Narrows and Mackay place, and running thence along Mackay place to Colonial road, to Seventy-second street, to Ridge boulevard, to Bay Ridge avenue, to Seventh avenue, to Fifty-eighth street, to Ninth avenue, to Fifty-seventh street, to Fort Hamilton parkway, to Gravesend bay, thence through the waters of Gravesend bay and the Narrows to Mackay place, the point or place of beginning.
District number ten (10) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Fourteenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of Ocean avenue and Farragut road, and running thence along Ocean avenue to Glenwood road, to East Nineteenth street, to Foster a/venue, to Westminster road, to Ditmas avenue, to Coney Island avenue, to Dorchester road, to Stratford road, to Cortelyou road, to Westminster road, to Slocum place, to Stratford road, to Beverley road, to East Ninth street, to Avenue C, to Ocean parkway, to Foster avenue, to East Third street, to Elmwood avenue, to East Fourth street, to Avenue I, to East Fifth street, to Avenue J, to Ocean parkway, to Avenue O, to East Thirteenth street, to Kings highway, to East Twenty-second street, to Avenue O, to Bedford avenue, to Farragut road, to Ocean avenue, the point or place of beginning.
District number eleven (11) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Fifteenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of Albany avenue and Atlantic avenue, and running thence along Atlantic avenue to Brooklyn avenue, to Dean street, to Bedford avenue, to Atlantic avenue, to Classon avenue, to St. Johns place, to Underhill avenue, to Eastern parkway, to Plaza street, thence westerly along Plaza street to Flatbush avenue, to Maple street, to Rogers avenue, to Sterling street, to New York avenue, to Montgomery street, to Kingston avenue, to Union street, to Brooklyn avenue to Eastern parkway, to Kingston avenue, to St. Marks avenue, to Albany avenue, to Atlantic avenue, the point or place of beginning.
District number twelve (12) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Fourteenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of Classon avenue and Atlantic avenue, and running thence along Atlantic avenue to Sixth avenue, to Bergen street, to Fifth avenue, to Eleventh street, to Fourth avenue, to Twelfth street, to Fifth avenue, to Fifteenth street, to Seventh avenue, to Prospect avenue, to Terrace place, to Prospect Park Southwest, to Prospect Park West, to Plaza street, thence easterly along Plaza street to Eastern parkway, to Underhill avenue, to St. Johns place, to Classon avenue, to Atlantic avenue, the point or place of beginning.

District number fifteen (15) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Seventh senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the East river and Broadway, and running thence along Broadway to Berry street, to South Sixth street, to Broadway, to Lorimer street, to Montrose avenue, to Leonard street, to Johnson avenue, to Graham avenue, to McKibbin street, to Humboldt street, to Moore street, to Morrell street, to and along Bushwick avenue, to Boerum street, to White street, to Johnson avenue, to Morgan avenue, to Flushing avenue, to the boundary line between the counties of Kings and Queens, thence along said boundary line to the East river, thence through the waters of the East river to Broadway, the point or place of beginning.
District number sixteen (16) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Tenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Atlantic ocean and Coney Island avenue, and running thence along Coney Island avenue to Avenue U, to East Thirteenth street, to Avenue O, to Dahill road, to Sixty-fifth street, to Avenue O, to West Sixth street, to Avenue P, to Stillwell avenue, to Neptune avenue, to Bay View avenue, to the Lower bay, thence through the waters of the Lower bay and Atlantic ocean to Coney Island avenue, the point or place of beginning.
