The members of the assembly shall be chosen by single districts, each of which shall choose one member. Until changed by a reapportionment, as in this article provided, the number of members of assembly to be chosen in the several counties shall be as follows:

Each county of the state having but one member of assembly, according to the above apportionment or any reapportionment under this article, shall comprise an assembly district. Each county so having more than one member of assembly shall be divided into as many assembly districts as it has members of assembly.
In any county having a board of supervisors to which is apportioned more than one member of assembly, such board
shall, on or before the second Tuesday in June, nineteen hundred thirty-nine, meet and establish assembly districts equal in number to the number of members of assembly to which such county is entitled under this section, and shall thereupon prepare and certify a description of each such district, with the number assigned to it, and a statement of the number of persons who voted therein for governor at the election held in November, nineteen hundred thirty-six, and cause the same to be filed in the office of the department of state and of the clerk of the county within thirty days after such districts are established.
In the counties having no board of supervisors, the legislature, by law, shall establish the assembly districts therein at its regular session held in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-nine and prior to the second Tuesday in June of that year, and if the legislature fails so to do, the assembly districts in such counties shall be as follows.
In the county of Bronx:
District number one (1) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-third senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the East river and East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street, and running thence along East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street to Cypress avenue, to East One Hundred and Thirty-eighth street, to St. Ann’s avenue, to East One Hundred and Forty-ninth street, to Melrose avenue, to East One Hundred and Fiftieth street, to Park avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-third street, to Sherman avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, to Walton avenue, to McClellan street, to Cromwell avenue, to Jerome avenue, to West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river, Bronx Kills and East river to East One Hundred and Thirty-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.
District number two (2) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-third senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Harlem river and West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, and running thence along West One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street to Jerome avenue, to Cromwell avenue, to McClellan street, to Walton avenue, to East One Hundred and Sixtyseventh street, to Grand Concourse, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fourth street, to Eastburn avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-fifth street, to Anthony avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-sixth street, to East Tremont avenue, to and along West Tremont avenue, to the Harlem river, thence through the waters of the Harlem river to East One Hundred and Sixty-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.

District number ten (10) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and Bronx and Pelham parkway, and running thence along Bronx and Pelham parkway, to and along Fordham road, to Eastern boulevard and through Pelham Bay park, to Eastchester bay, thence southeasterly through the waters of Eastchester bay and Long Island Sound to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Queens, thence through the waters of Long Island Sound along the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Queens to the boundary line between the counties of Bronx and Westchester, thence along said boundary line to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to Bronx and Pelham parkway, the point or place of beginning.
District number eleven (11) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth senate district within and bounded by f line beginning at the Bronx river and Bronx and Pelham parkway, and running thence along Bronx and Pelham parkway, to and along Fordham road, to Eastern boulevard and through Pelham Bay park to Eastchester bay, thence through the waters of Eastchester bay to Randall avenue, to East Tremont avenue, to Waterbury avenue, to Westchester creek, thence through the waters of Westchester creek to Waterbury avenue, to and along Westchester avenue, to East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, to the Bronx river, thence through the waters of the Bronx river to Bronx and Pelham parkway, the point or place of beginning.
District number twelve (12) shall consist of that part of the county of Bronx and that portion of the Twenty-fifth seriate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Bronx river and East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, and running thence along East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street to Westchester avenue to and along Waterbury avenue to Westchester creek, thence through the waters of Westchester creek to Waterbury avenue, to East Tremont avenue, to Randall avenue, to Eastchester bay, thence through the waters of Eastchester bay. Long Island Sound, East river and Bronx river, to East One Hundred and Seventy-seventh street, the point or place of beginning.
In the county of Kings:

District number two (2) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Tenth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the Atlantic ocean and Coney Island avenue, and running thence along Coney Island avenue to Avenue U, to East Thirteenth street, to Kings highway, to East Twenty-second street, to Avenue O, to Bedford avenue, to Avenue D, to East Twenty-fifth street, to Cortelyou road, to Lott street, to Tilden avenue, to Canarsie avenue, to Beverley road, to Brooklyn avenue, to Cortelyou road, to East Thirty-seventh street, to Avenue H, to Brooklyn avenue, to Avenue J, to Schenectady avenue, to Avenue R, to Haring street, to Avenue R, to Bedford avenue, to Sheepshead bay, thence through the waters of Sheepshead bay, Rockaway inlet and Atlantic ocean to Coney Island avenue, the point or place of beginning.

District number twenty-two (22) shall consist of that part of the county of Kings and that portion of the Eighth senate district within and bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of Eastern Parkway Extension and Broadway, and running thence along Broadway to Alabama avenue, to Atlantic avenue, to Williams avenue, to Blake avenue, to Pennsylvania avenue, to Hegeman avenue, to Louisiana avenue, to DeWitt avenue, to Williams avenue, to and along Hinsdale street, to Fresh Creek basin, thence through the waters of Fresh Creek basin to Border avenue, to Spring Creek basin, thence through the waters of Spring Creek basin to the boundary line between the counties of Kings and Queens, thence northerly along said boundary line to Highland boulevard, to Bushwick avenue, to Eastern Parkway Extension, to Broadway, the point or place of beginning.
