Candidate Questionnaires
We sent questionnaires to candidates for city council, district attorney, and civil court judge to find out what they think about some of the most important and complex issues facing their offices, communities, and NYC as a whole.
These questionnaires let the candidates tell you about themselves, what they’d like to do in office, and where they stand on policy questions.
With this info distilled in one place, you can decide if they’re qualified for the job – and turn that decision into a vote during the primary election on September 12, and the general election on November 7.
One common question for NYC voters is: how do you decide who to vote for when candidates’ policy positions are so similar? When we designed out questionnaires, we tried to get at what distinguishes candidates from one another – what are their top beliefs and priorities, and where would they focus their offices’ attention if elected.
And, this information isn’t just useful when you’re prepping to vote – having your elected official’s promises on record means you can keep them in check when they’re in office.
You can read through our questionnaires for each office right here – just click to expand each section and you’ll find pdf reproductions of the questionnaires we sent to candidates via Google Forms.
Happy reading and happy voting!
