Top Policy Issues

District Priorities: What do you think are the top 3 issues facing your district - and what is your plan to address each of those issues?

1. Economics - I will support the Small Business Job Survival Act "right to renewal lease and right to negotiate fair lease terms", that will help small business owners survive and regulate commercial rents once business leases expire. I will also work to have a Employment and training center in District 12. Presently, there are zero (0) NYS or NYC employment centers in Council District 12.
2. Education - I will work with the CEC and school leaders to support schools and help leverage additional resources for schools. I will expand after-school, summer programs and youth employment and training programs in the District.
3. Immigration - I will also have a resource center, including legal resources, for immigrant families.

City Priorities: What do you think are the top 3 issues facing NYC as a whole - and what is your plan to address each of those issues?

1. Economic Survival - I will work with the mayor and other city council members to assess resources and minimize funding and duplication of services. Also I will work to increase accountability and capacity of dollars to city agencies and recipient organizations of public dollars. In many instances we may not need additional dollars but additional training in using the dollars that we have more efficiently.
2. Affordable Housing - Work with landlords and find incentives to ensure landlords keep rents affordable. Increase the number of income based units and subsidized housing.
3. Find ways to empower residents to help with the upkeep of their living conditions i.e. Habitat for Humanity
